چکیده

Composite bonded structure is a prevalent portion of today’s aircraft structure. Adequate bond integrity critical aspect fabrication and service, especially since many structural bonds are for flight safety. Over the last decade, non-destructive evaluation techniques have improved but still cannot detect structurally weak that exhibits full adherend/adhesive contact. The result expensive time-consuming proof testing continues to be required verify integrity. objective this work investigate feasibility bondline monitoring using piezoelectric sensors, embedded at different locations within composite joint, assess benefits thickness mode in addition radial mode. Experiments analyses performed on single lap shear joints, with without subjected incrementally increasing tensile loads. results indicate sensors measure change resonance both during incremental loading shows enhanced sensitivity impending failure. Thus, it demonstrated modes sensor provides details prognostic performance evaluation.

Fatigue Damage Monitoring of a Composite Step Lap Joint Using Distributed Optical Fibre Sensors

Over the past few decades, there has been a considerable interest in the use of distributed optical fibre sensors (DOFS) for structural health monitoring of composite structures. In aerospace-related work, health monitoring of the adhesive joints of composites has become more significant, as they can suffer from cracking and delamination, which can have a significant impact on the integrity of ...

Structural Integrity of Composite Laminates with Embedded Micro- sensors

The study of the mechanical interaction among the host, interface, and a device embedded within a laminated composite is important. Embedding micro-sensors in composite laminates produces material discontinuity around the inclusions. This in turn produces stress concentrations at or near the inclusions. Both 2D plane strain and 3D FEM models are developed to analyze the stress/strain state surr...

The Effect of Fiber Breakage on Transient Stress Distribution in a Single-Lap Joint Composite Material

In the present study, the transient stress distribution caused by a break in the fibers of an adhesive bonding is investigated. Transient stress is a dynamic response of the system to any discontinuity in the fibers from detachment time till their equilibrium state (or steady state). To derive the governing dynamic equilibrium equations shear lag model is used. Here, it is assumed that the tens...

Design of Multivariable Pof Controller for Smart Composite Beam Using Embedded Shear Sensors and Actuators

In this paper, the modelling and design of a multivariable controller for a smart thick composite cantilever beam with embedded shear sensors and actuators is investigated. The first 3 dominant vibratory modes are retained in the modelling of the composite beam. The beam is divided into 8 finite elements and shear piezoelectric patches are embedded into the master structure. These shear piezoel...

An Embedded Sensor For Monitoring File Integrity

This paper describes a method of monitoring le integrity (changes in le contents) using a collection of embedded sensors within the kernel. An embedded sensor is a small piece of code designed to monitor a speci c condition and report to a central logging facility. In our case, we have built several such sensors into the 4.4 BSD kernel (OpenBSD V2.7) to monitor for changes in le contents. The s...
